How does a rotary drum vacuum filter work?

Publish Date:2026-01-16 Views:22times

A rotary drum vacuum filter operates primarily through a continuously rotating drum and a distribution chamber connected to it. This divides the filter surface into zones. When the drum rotates to one zone (the suction zone), filtration occurs.

When it rotates to another zone (the drying zone), the filter cake is dried. Further rotations to other zones (washing, drying, unloading, and filter cloth regeneration zones) involve washing, secondary drying, and unloading the filter cake via a discharge device.

If the filtered suspension has high viscosity and requires filter cloth washing, the cloth is washed after unloading using nozzles installed on both sides of the filter before entering the next filtration cycle.

One rotation of the drum completes one cycle, fulfilling the processes of filtration, drying, washing, re-drying, unloading, and filter cloth regeneration. During operation, all zones work simultaneously, resulting in continuous filtration.
